Highlights of the Week of September 23rd

  • Tea and Poetry; Read “Jabberwocky” by Lewis Carroll from Favorite Poems of Childhood.
  • In Beast Academy we learned about ones, tens and hundreds. Practice pages online and/or in the practice book.
  • Reading out loud “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” by JK Rowling.
  • We started a review of the Ancient World with the earliest people the Nomads. Chapter 2 in the Story of the World. Cecelia requested the story of Romulus and Remus.
  • We started our Sea Monkey experiment Artemia Salina and have hatchlings and give them food. Watch for maturation in 5-7 days.
  • In our math story in the Life of Fred Edgewood, we learn about obeying signs, evergreen and deciduous trees, the rhombus and parallel.
  • We are putting together a T-rex and talking about palentology.
  • In our reading instruction All about Reading, we start on Level 1; Chapter 32.
  • HWT Cursive Kickoff writing with a T and A pages 9-10.
  • Practiced upper and lower case letters and sentences.
  • Continue to discuss the different kinds of trees. Review alive and not alive and plants and animals.
  • Group movement class on Mondays from 5-6 @ Together in Movement.
  • In practical life, Cecelia walks dogs and walks between 4-5 miles a week.
  • Copied three sentences from a science book about bacteria.
  • Read aloud “Ramona and Beezus” by Beverly Cleary.
  • In social and emotional learning, we talked about thinking thoughts and feeling feelings, We Thinkers Social Explorers and read “Keeping our head in the group”.
  • Read herself “Mice on Ice” and “Three for Tea”, Short Stories “The Plan” and “The Big Mess” from her primer.
